This portrait honors the memory of our beloved cat, Faisca,
who joined our family after being abandoned by his previous
owner. With an old soul, he brought us years of unconditional
love until his passing in 2016.
Originally created as a vector-based stencil
on black canvas with stark white spray paint,
this piece has remained a tribute to him for years.
Recently, I returned to the painting, inspired by the
subtle warmth that would shimmer in the light on his
black-and-white fur. Through the use of cracking medium,
I added layers of orange-brown that now appear in the
cracks of the deeper black, adding a sense of depth and
life to the portrait. This work remains a celebration
of his quiet strength and enduring love.
